Life - Rainbow Bridge

It's been a long week this week. I've spent a lot of it crying. Our sweet cat, Lucy is extremely ill and near death, and I have been trying to nurse her back to health to no avail. She has always been unhealthy and I am surprised she lived these 8 years. She is so precious and tiny. Our nearest vet is about 45 miles from here although I can tell her time is over on this earth. :'0( I am so thankful that I know that animals were created spiritually first and then given bodies, so I know they have spirits and they too move on to the spirit world. Not quite sure where, but they are there and I am glad. I always liked this little story/poem, although it makes me cry to read it right now. I can't wait till Mike gets home tonight. It's just been such a long week without him...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

On a better note, I have been working on baby booties and on a baby sweater for my book. And Trina Boice and I might have a publisher. I am praying that goes right for us this time. I have been working on this book for over 2 years. And there are still so many things I want to include. It will be on Humanitarian Service--- not just charity crafting, but that is my part. Trina is writing on many other aspects of service-- for families and individuals.

The booties are for the newborn kits for UMC in Vegas. We hope to do 40 more kits in November, but right now, we don't have any blankets for the kits, and I don't want to put together mini kits again. We have to have receiving blankets and gowns if possible for them, or we wait till December. The nights are way too cold here to not have at least blankets. I found some flannel in boxes that were donated recently, so I have to find time to sew up some double flannel 32" blankets. =)

We have Crafting Angels on the 14th so I don't have a lot of time to get some sewed up.

Take care and HUG THE ONES YOU LOVE!!!
