Baby Project BACK ON!!

Good morning!
Great news! The other day I heard from a couple of our soldiers over in Afghanistan, and we have a new contact who will accept clothes, toys and other items for the refugee families over there. Remember this project helps our soldiers in so many ways. Whether or not you 'believe' in war, we crafter do believe in kindness and love. And we need to be there for our troops!

This photo was taken by one of my soldier contacts last winter, and yes, those babies have bare legs...

I am so excited to welcome John to our little overseas project! If you have been looking for somewhere to donate hats, mittens, blankets, shawls, sweaters, beanie babies, teddy bears, gently used shoes and boots, kids coats etc., here it is! Items made with WOOL are extremely warm and always appreciated. Many places in America will not accept wool items, but where there are no washing machines, they are much appreciated, so if any of you have wool sitting around, now you know what you can do with it. Turned it into warmth for those in great need!

And don't forget our service men and women can use goodies too! There is a list of those items on my baby project page near the bottom.

Here is part of John's letter:

"Let me begin by saying thank you to you and all the others that take the time out of their lives to help not only the poor of Afghanistan but the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen that are here serving. The program I am involved with is called the Volunteer Community Relations (VCR) Program. It sorts then delivers the donated items to refugee camps, schools, hospitals and orphanages.

It is a great program that helps many Afghans both children and adults. Being able to deliver donated items whether it be gloves, knitted hats, crayons or soccer balls to the needy children and families gives great comfort, happiness and a sense of pride to the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen that volunteer in the program.

The other section of the VCR program is FOB Support, any items sent to the VCR program for Soldiers, Saliors, etc are sorted and sent down range to locations that have very limited or no PX support.

This is where the packages will do the most good.
...Whatever is donated will be used and appreciated and bring a smile to many faces."
