Ezekiel Flour and Bread, Diet and baby Jesus Blankets

Many of you know I have changed my way of eating to the 'Rice Diet Solution' way of eating and it is working so well for me. (here is the book with all the info!)

I have actually been a thin person most of my life, skinny even as a kid and teen and young adult. However, when my husband and I were losing our little grocery store, had to declare a business/personal bankruptcy, and things were so stressful, the weight started to slowly creep, and then pile on!

I was at my heaviest back in 2003... 187 lbs, size 16-- I am 5' 7".

I gave up processed sugars out of necessity since they were giving me migraines and depression, and over the course of about a year I lost 35 lbs. I was good for about a year or so. Then 2 years ago Mike was diagnosed with a 95% chance that he had lung cancer. The weight started back on... His surgery showed that is was not cancer, so that was an immense blessing from our l0ving Father in Heaven!! In spite of that blessing and healing, I had gotten into some bad habits and I kept on eating-- semi healthily, lots of veggies but too much cereal, chips etc!!

Now, just last year, Mike's job became extremely stressful on him, and so on me. He has been a wonderful. honest, caring, grocery store manager and worker for 32 years! He loved his work and the customers, but it wasn't enough. He was sent to Richfield, Utah to learn to be a 'better manager'...

I was left here with the kids, trying to sell the house for over 3 months. The weight piled on even more. I was a wreck in so many ways. I ate.

Mike quit his old job right before Christmas 2006 and become a 'Farmers Insurance Agent'. WOO HOO!! If you live in Nevada anywhere he will happily look at your numbers (just click on that link!) and see if he can save you and your family money in any area of insurance. He's really good at saving people money, and at his job. =) More blessings.

I like to think that before we came to this earth, I promised Mike I would struggle with him through anything just so we could be together. We have wonderful kids and we have a deep love, it's not a perfect love and we have struggles like everyone, but what a great blessing Mike is to me.

Well, I was back up to 176 lbs and needed to do something. My friend Bobbi started this 'Rice Diet Solution' thing, and I could see it was helping her, so.... I bought the book at Amazon - see above.

I have lost 30 lbs now and am back down to 146 lbs... I want to lose about 6 or 7 more lbs. I am wearing size 8 pants-- down from tight 14s! And I feel so much better inside and out. I can move more, am out walking - and have been swimming every weekday in the summer, I am not in so much pain from the fibromyalgia, or MS.

Bobbi has lost close to 100 lbs doing this! She feels better too. =)

I wanted to share a really healthy recipe and info on Ezekiel flour that I got at our Stake Wooden Spoon meeting last week.

How to make Ezekiel 4:9 Flour
I case you are wondering what Ezekial 4:9 flour is; in the Old Testament, Jehovah (Jesus) gave Ezekial a type and shadow of the seige and famine that shall befall Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 4:9
"Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof."

It is a highly nutritious, high protein and vitamins flour.
Here is what you need:
Equal parts of ground up: wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and fitches (or spelt)

Well I didn't have millet or spelt, so I substituted flax seed (ground) - for beans I used ground up navy, red, and black beans. I have a hand-wheat-grinder that the kids and I use. Here is the hand grinder I have and I absolutely LOVE it!

We all take turns and each ingredient goes into a clean ice cream bucket or empty rolled oats round box. I then took an empty oats container and put the ingredients in for the Ezekial flour and marked it as such.

Ezekiel Bread (a quick bread- not a yeast bread)
1 1/2 cups Ezekiel flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/3 cup milk
2 eggs
1/4 cup of olive oil (I am working on sustituting applesause for the oil)
1 TBsp honey
Throw them all in a bowl and beat together. Pour into greased 9x9 pan. Bake at 450 F dregrees for 25-30 mins or till done.

It is SO good and good for you.
----------------------

Ezekiel Pancakes
2 cs Ezekiel flour
2 cups milk
2 eggs
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 c olive oil

Beat together and cook as usual.

You can serve the pancakes with fresh fruit for even greater health value.

This week I have been working on knitting mittens for LDS Humanitarian as they NEED them. They also have a PRIORITY NEED for quilts of all sizes.

My daughter Katie is still working on her 'Baby Jesus Blankets' project and would love if you could make and send a handmade blanket or 2 for this. You can read about it on this page. She is hoping to get 207 blankets to donate to LDS Humanitarian and to our local Cappalappa Center who help families locally here in Moapa Valley area by Christmas time. She has 25 so far, so she has a long way to go!

HUG THE ONES YOU LOVE!
