Peaceful Christmas Eve...

There are so many good Christmassy videos on Youtube it was hard to decide which one to choose for display on my blog this morning. I decided on this one though, because it shows what Jesus, the newborn baby from Bethlehem, would become. It shows what we can strive to make of ourselves in 2008.

We are commanded to become like Him, and our Father in Heaven.
"Be ye therefore *perfect, even as your father in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:48

and again in the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ as He taught that same Gospel, His Gospel, to the peoples of the Americas:
"Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your father in heaven is perfect."
3 Nephi 12:48
(The words spoken in 3 Nephi were spoken after His death and resurrection, so Christ was of course perfected by that time so He included Himself in that command.)

*PERFECT = finished, complete.

Each of us are given the opportunity in this life to become more like Jesus Christ. We have talents to use to help those in need. We are blessed in so many ways, to just live where there is freedom, where we have warm clothes to wear, a roof over our heads, friends to share this journey we call 'life', food on our tables each day, families.

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ, may we remember those who may be lonely or sad, or struggling to be cheerful through trials, with our prayers, with the gift of time, a visit, a song, a cheery card and a plate of cookies or an orange...

I want to wish all of you a beautiful Christmas Eve and a Peacefilled Christmas Day tomorrow, as we remember the miraculous birth of Jesus.

My last thought today is from a Perry Como Christmas show filmed in Austria in 1978. He tells the story of Silent Night and sings it as it was originally sung with guitar. I love Perry Como and his shows really help make Christmas special for me. I hope you enjoy it.

HUG the ones you love even closer tonight!
Bev
