William's first sweater!

Good Sabbath day to all!
Today was my son Timmy's 'Missionary Farewell'-- they don't actually call them that anymore, but he spoke before leaving on his mission and he did an awesome job! He spoke about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

He asked us all to picture a beautiful glass table encased in a carved wood base. Now picture a huge boulder being dropped on that table! Picture the table smashed to pieces... some bigger, some shards, some ground into powder. After the Apostles all died or were killed, the churches slowly fell into apostacy.

Churches began teaching for doctrines, the teachings of men blended with scriptures, and some original teachings of Christ. Many of the precious truths Christ taught were slowly fazed out--

baptism by immersion by one with the Authority to do that, the laying on of hands for the Gift of the Holy Ghost, the Twelve Apostles, baptism for the dead, continuing revelation, personal revelation, teachings of the Atonement of Christ, the knowledge that Christ had and taught that He and the Father were one in purpose and teachings, but not in body (of course they are not the same personage-- who was Christ praying to while He was on earth? Who spoke after His baptism? Who has His resurrected body now?) -- the Godhead consists of 3 separate individuals-- God the Father, Jesus Christ His only begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, -- so many important teachings, lost...

There were some who tried to patch up and reform that 'table', but no matter how much they glued and fixed, it would never be the same, so much was lost. The only way to get that table back was a full restoration. In 1820 that is what began to happen...

I sang 'Joseph Smith's First Prayer' right before Timmy spoke and that went well too, and I was glad of that because my former vocal coach had come to visit today. =)

This is a nice rendition with good paintings -- it's not me singing obviously!

Now, on to my grandbaby's first sweater for my little William!! I had to show off a photo of it. =) I used this pattern 5 Hour Baby Sweater for Boys.

The buttons are Peter Rabbit, which I placed on there on purpose, to represent my mother. She LOVED all the Beatrix Potter stories, as do I.

So there will be a little of Grandma Liz in this sweater too.

I am not sure why but I ended up with some interesting 'holes' where I was supposed to M1 (make 1) -- it's evenly spaced and we think it is part of the decor of the pattern perhaps? It's cool looking anyhow.

I am planning to make many more things -- booties, hats, etc. Man, I am having fun!! I even know what I am making him for Christmas already!

Well, enjoy the rest of this gorgeous weekend. Sit and color with your kids, read a good book together, definitely HUG THE ONES YOU LOVE!
