North Dakota
North Carolina
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New Mexico
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Dakota
South Carolina

If so please send them here so they can learn how to become one:
http://www.freewebs.com/warmingfamilies/areavolunteerinfo.htm

and if you want to become one but don't see your state listed, it might mean we have ONE already in that state, but we need 3 or 4 in each state ideally! So please don't hesitate to contact Kaye Rogers to let her know you have read that page and want to become one. :)

What IS a Twitter Party?
A Twitter Party is where a group of people can discuss or Tweet about a
specific topic in their own little chat room. To participate in the
discussion you¹ll need to sign up for a free Twitter account (instructions
are listed below).

Why Attend?
Twitter parties are a great way to connect with other people while chatting
about a specific topic. Lands End will be hosting a two-hour Twitter Party
to kick-off the FeelGood campaign complete with fun and giveaways.

Twitter Party Hosts
Twitter Party Hosts oversee the event, answer questions, and keep the flow
of the party going.

How To Participate

1. Twitter Account - Go to www.twitter.com to sign up for a free Twitter
account.

2. Find and Follow Lands¹ End Hosts:
· @LEPRMichele
· @LandsEndPRKira
· @LEPRAmanda
· @LandsEndPRAdam
· @VickieHowell

During the party if you want to address one of the hosts directly, be sure
to use their entire Twitter handle (ie @LEPRMichele) .

3. Hashtag The Twitter world calls a pound sign (#) a hashtag. A hashtag
is a code used to mark a specific topic. The Lands¹ End FeelGood Twitter
Party is marked and happening at #landsend. You can search for #landsend to
participate in the party and see the party tweets.

4. Set Up TweetGrid - On the day of the party, use TweetGrid.com or another
Twitter application such as TweetDeck to follow all of the tweets marked
#landsend and participate in the party.

On TweetGrid - You can comment, reply and read all at once in TweetGrid, and
it even puts the hashtag in your comment for you.

Click here <http://tweetgrid. com/howto> for a TweetGrid tutorial list. The
Twitter Party Tutorial should be #8.

5. Fast Followers Something to note, Twitter parties are fun and fast!

Grand-daughter and Hat for Warming Families Hat Challenge

I am going to be grandma to a little girl in December as my eldest and his wife are expecting a little sister for Jackson! Not sure of the date yet. I am so happy for them. I love babies so much. :)

**************************************************************************************************************
Ok- this is a nice warm hat pattern for teens and adults. It's one I starting making hats from a long time ago. Not even sure this pattern is 100% accurate, but let's try it! I will post a photo and /or corrections if necessary, when I get this hat made up with the Land's End yarn. (EDITED TO ADD PHOTO!)

Bev's 'Warm Me Up 2' hat
Copyright 2009 - Beverly A. Qualheim
J hook
3 oz worsted weight yarn
1 large eyed yarn needle to weave in ends

Starting at TOP:
Rnd 1: Ch 4, join into a ring, ch 3 (counts as dc)and then make 11 more dc into ring, join with slip stitch in top of 1st dc

Rnd 2:
ch 3 and dc in same st, *2 dc in each st* around, join. (24 dc)

Rnd 3:
ch 3 and dc in same st, *1dc in next st, 2 dc in next st* around, join with slip stitch in top of 1st dc (36 dc)

Rnd 4:
ch 3 and dc in same st, *1dc in next 2st, 2dc in next st* around, join with slip stitch in top of 1st dc (48 dc)

Rnd 5:
ch 3 and dc in same st, *1dc in next 3st, 2dc in next st* around, join with slip stitch in top of 1st dc (60 dc)

Rnd 6 - 20:
ch 3 and dc in same st, FPDC in ea dc around - including that VERY last FPDC there-- it increases the hat by one stitch each time around (you could also join in the first FPDC and NOT work into that very last FPDC for a straight up and down look but the hat will be a bit smaller),

J
oin with slip stitch in top of 1st dc. Cut 4" yarn tail.
Fasten off and weave in 4" yarn tail.

Questions and Answers about the Hat Challenge

http://www.hartclassics.com/print.php?id=38

Matthew 25:36&40 KJV

"36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me...
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

These came from Land's End this morning and I added a few of my own at the bottom:

How can I knit for the FeelGood campaign?

  1. You can look for a local chapter of Warming Families at www.warmingfamilies.com or feel free to use your own yarn, download the hat pattern at www.landsend.com/feelgood and submit your contributions to a local homeless shelter or Lands’ End (see contact info below).
  2. You can also find dozens of hat patterns, knit and crochet, here:

www.bevscountrycottage.com/hats.html

  1. I have left over yarn. Can I use it to knit for the campaign?

  1. Yes, feel free to contribute in anyway you can. You can use your yarn to knit hats for the FeelGood campaign.

  1. How can I get FeelGood yarn?

  1. All of the FeelGood yarn is earmarked for knitters working through Warming Families and other local organizations. You can either work through a local Warming Families chapter or feel free to use remnants of your own yarn supply.

  1. When is the deadline to send in completed hats?

A. Our goal is to knit as many hats as possible by December 31, 2009.

Q. Where can I send my completed hats?

A. You can either find a local Warming Families group,

A local homeless shelter If you do this, please report your numbers donated to uswarmingfamilies@yahoo.com or submit finished hats to:

Michele Casper

Lands’ End

5 Lands' End Lane

Dodgeville, WI 53595

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: I can't knit, but I can crochet, is that ok?
A. Knitted, crocheted and loom knitted hats are all fine. Use your own favorite, warm patterns or dozens of free hat patterns are posted here:
http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/hats.html

Q: Do hats need to be machine washable?
A: Most homeless people don't have access to washing machines, but hats should be at least hand-washable. If you use 100% wool, please be sure hats are felted before sending.

Q: What sizes are needed?
A: Depending on the shelter, all sizes from 6 months through adult will be needed. Most shelters need men's hats the most though.

For sending hats to Bev's Chapter (Southern Nevada Chapter) - I need all sizes, including newborn for the county hospital, but need more teens and adults than anything.
